Ducky's Log #5: Daylight Savings Time, Discovering the Origins of "Walking In The Air" + A random thought

It is I, Gwenny, yet again. Hope you've all had a lovely week. Daylight Savings Time is among us, and fast. As soon as those dadgone clocks are set forward, brace for the lost hour of sleep and after that, the usual darker mornings and lighter evenings, and we all know how those lighter evenings serve us in the summer.

Just last night, I randomly listened to my copy of the first Celtic Woman album that was originally owned by my mother. The first track is that of the intro called "Last Rose Of Summer" and "Walking In The Air" covered by one Chloë Agnew which is after the intro. The key word here is "covered". At the time of my very first listen to that album dating back to when I was barely even a preteen around the time of their live performance broadcasting on what I believe was most likely KVCR on my local station, I was completely unaware of the existence of the original version of the song. Fast forward to Christmas Eve of 2025, and I'm on YouTube riding that Christmas high. A 1982 short animated film known as The Snowman pops up in my feed for the umpteenth time and this time, I finally watch it, and it was the best decision I've ever made. I bawled my eyes out throughout that entire film over how beautiful it was. But most importantly, I would hear what would be the original song, composed by one Howard Blake and performed by a young choirboy known as Peter Auty.

Now cut to last night, as I listened to Chloë's Celtic Woman rendition for the first time in many years, only then did I put two and two together. It was a full circle moment, and a good one too.

I will end The Ducky's Log with a random thought.

Out of all the Toy Story films I've ever watched, and I mean this with as much love to the first two, Toy Story 3 is the GOAT.

That will be all.

Please be on the lookout for the Alien's Log to come right after this! ¡Adíos, amigos!
